Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number Throwing Down Ain’t Nothing But A Thang

Aaliyah Dana Haughton, the Princess of R&B and Queen of Urban Pop. She was taken away from us at a young age which saddens my heart till this day. Her impact within the music industry will never be forgotten especially in the 90’s and early 2000’s. When it came to style Aaliyah understood the assignment as it was a hybrid of elegance and casualness that many people wanted to imitate or be inspired by her fashion sense. Everyone wanted to be her, AS THEY SHOULD. I wish had the opportunity to see her live as her voice was unique to any other artist at the time and she had amazing stage presence that I would of LOVED to witness and experience physically! Girl, let’s not forget about the choreography she delivers effortlessly urgh what an icon. How could you not love Aaliyah? She was a symbol of empowerment for her community. Not only that, she was unapologetically herself in which her fans admired.

‘’While Beyonce was still part of Destiny’s Child. Aaliyah was perfecting a style that Beyonce would eventually adopt: the sexually liberated women who was in control of herself’’

’'Plenty of bloggers have spotted Rihanna sporting looks that echo some of Aaliyah’s most famous outfits’’

Even though Aaliyah is gone her spirit still lives among us as her trendy worthy looks and music continues to be mimicked internationally. This is exemplified in the music videos: Normani – Wild Side Featuring Cardi B and Mnelia – Say Yeah.
